Bobbi Boss Bohemian Box Braids with Water Curl Tips

Hey Hey Heyyy!

I recently tried out these Bobbi Boss Bohemian Box Braids in 20" with Water Curl tips, and I absolutely loved it, EXCEPT for one glaring flaw... Let's Talk about it!

Hair Details

When I saw these Box Braids, I thought they were really cute! What makes this hair unique is that it has braids at the top and loose crochet hair at the bottom (water curl tips). I wore this hair in a Color 2, and I used 3.5 packs of this hair while I was installing it. This hair came as a 3x pack.

For my braid down, I used the illusion Crochet Braid down method.

I also tied my loose ends with yarn. You will have to watch the video review to understand my reasoning for the yarn.

I wore this style for 4 weeks and 1 Day. However, I was ready to take this style out after 2 weeks because of the texture, which is the ONE GLARING FLAW of this product!

The texture is JUST too rough!!

Ughh!

Hair Texture

The texture of this hair just really kills the cuteness of the style. The Bobbi Boss Bohemian Box Braids are just too rough for my liking. While wearing the braids, I was so concerned that the braids were going to brush up against my young infant child and scratch him. EKk!

((Pictured)) Edges Removed & Slicked Back

If you plan on wearing this hair directly installed on your natural hair, I would caution you as it may cause breakage. I actually experienced breakage on my edges, so I ended up taking out all of the braids installed on my edges. To wear the style, I used edge control to slick back my edges in the places where I removed the braids.

Instead of directly installing this style on your natural hair, I recommend wearing this particular hairstyle as a crochet wig. This way, you can easily remove it whenever you want. If you are not fond of the crochet wig idea, another option is to strengthen your braid down by adding braiding hair before installing these braids. This will help prevent any damage to your natural hair as a result of the rough text of these braids.

Pros and Cons

Let's summarize the pros and cons of the Bobbi Boss Bohemian Box Braids:

Pros

• It is a cute style that received compliments

• Long-lasting

  • Can be worn for months if desired

• Not prone to detangling, even with loose crochet hair at the ends

  • I don't recall detangling this hair at all

• Lightweight

  • This hair is lighter than braids which I liked (If I were to have gotten this same hairstyle installed using box braids it would have been a lot heavier)

Cons

• Rough texture, which may not be suitable for everyone

• May cause discomfort for those with sensitive scalps

• Warm

  • I don't know if it is the length I selected or the hair, but I found the back of my neck a little bit warm while wearing this hair. So, these braids might not be the best for summertime braids.

All In All

The Bobbi Boss Bohemian Box Braids with Water Curl tips are a cute, long-lasting crochet hair option. However, it is important to consider the rough texture and potential for breakage, especially for those with coarse hair like mine. If Bobbi Boss were to remake this hair, I hope they consider a texture that is less rough.
